About us
It started in petrol stations. He rebuilt the stock system, laid the shelves into bins so the team could stocktake in small chunks instead of losing a day to it, and used the sales data to write the purchase orders automatically. Then Vodafone — data, Apple systems, technical presales, eventually running the national presales team. Same pattern every time. Build it so it runs without you, then go and do something that matters more.
In 2014 he started Tipu Prosperity in Whāngārei, coaching accounting firms and building an outsourcing team in India serving practices across New Zealand and Australia.
He is not an accountant. That turns out to be the point. He looks at firms the way an outsider does, which is how he sees what the people inside them stopped noticing years ago.
He started in corporate banking, then moved across into accounting and into a partnership. It wasn’t a modern firm. Same manual work, same bottlenecks, same owner carrying the whole thing on their back. So he moved out, and built his own firm to run the way he thought a firm should.
Tim is a Chartered Accountant. He knows exactly what the work costs, because he has done every hour of it himself.
One had spent a career taking the machinery out of jobs. The other had spent one inside firms, knowing exactly which parts were broken and why. The question came up fairly quickly: what if we just built one properly, from scratch?
So they did. RealtyAI.nz — a real accounting practice, real clients, real deadlines, run almost entirely by systems. Not a pilot. A firm that files returns and answers the phone.
theautomatedfirm.co is the bricks and mortar behind it. The workflow, the automations, the AI brain, the reporting — everything RealtyAI runs on is the same stack we hand to you. We are not selling a framework off a whiteboard. We are selling what we run our own firm on, and we had to make it work before we could sell it to anybody.
It is no longer one firm, either. We are rolling this out with practices across New Zealand and Australia right now.
AI is going to make outsourcing redundant.
We know how that sounds coming from us. Ed runs an outsourcing team in India, serving accounting firms across New Zealand and Australia. We are telling you it has a shelf life.
If your firm leans on outsourcing today, this is better news than it sounds. The margin you went offshore to find, you get to keep — and more of it. But the part that matters is what doesn’t happen. AI replaces the outsourcing, not your team. Your local people stay. They stop doing the processing that was sent away in the first place, and start doing the work you actually hired them for.
That is the whole difference. Most people teaching firms about AI have never had to make payroll in one.
